My wife can tell whenever samples from Sea Smoke arrive, because, she said, I smile differently. I tend to believe her: This is a producer whose wines I look forward to tasting vintage after vintage. It's always eye-opening and exciting to see what the new one has brought, and this stunner won me over from the start with its aromas of peach, warm vanilla brioche, flint, stone, and apricot pit that lead to rich and transporting flavors of sun-warmed white peach, vanilla pod, white licorice, a hint of lilac, white tea, and lemon oil. For all the plushness of this wine, however, it is zipped through with beautiful acidity, sparking everything with a real sense of verve. Tremendously successful, and altogether delicious. Drink now - 2022.
