Whiskey Recommendation: Knappogue Castle

Last year, I wrote here about the stunning Knappogue Castle 17 Year Old “Twin Wood” Single Malt Irish Whiskey. This week, I featured the excellent 14 Year Old “Twin Wood” bottling on my CityDrinks column over at CityEats Philly. My full tasting notes are below:

Knappogue Castle 14 Year Old "Twin Wood" Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Aromatically, this is as appealing and beautiful as it gets: Caramel, coconut, sandalwood, heather, vanilla, and cinnamon, with a bit of baked apple and pear in there as well. On the palate, delicately spiced fruit flavors of pear, caramel apple, persimmon, and quince mingle with warm spices and honey tuille. Gorgeous, elegant, delicate, and wonderfully made. Search this one out and buy multiple bottles: I have a feeling it’ll disappear once you bring it home.
