There are certain parts of the world whose nearly universal appeal is undeniable. Tuscany is certainly among these places. So, to, is the South of France. And the Thai islands in the Andaman Sea. To that list I’d add St. Moritz, the legendary destination for skiing enthusiasts, lovers of luxury travel, and devotees of great food and wine.
Tomorrow, I’m happy to report, I’ll be flying into Zurich, taking what promises to be a breathtaking train ride through the mountains, and spending three nights at one of the top hotels in the world: Badrutt’s Palace Hotel.
It’s a property with a stunning history that goes back well over a century and that, even today, ranks as one of the finest in Europe and beyond. Over the course of my stay there, I’ll be skiing, exploring the culinary offerings of the town itself and the hotel in particular, and generally immersing myself in one of the most beautiful places one can visit.
After that, I’ll be heading to Zurich, where I will spend my last night in Switzerland at the Baur au Lac hotel, another remarkable property that draws in visitors from all over the globe. Keep checking back here throughout next week for updates, photos, initial impressions, and more.
