Ever since being introduced to Inman Family Wines and the supremely talented owner and winemaker Kathleen Inman, I have been a fan. This remarkable Pinot Noir only serves to increase my admiration. It's a beautiful translucent garnet-to-orange-leaning color, with complex, terroir-driven aromas of wild mushrooms, tar, dried rose petals, cranberries, spicy cherries, and forest floor. On the palate, it's concentrated and long, speaking of cherry skin, sasparilla, forest floor, and a finish of beguiling, oxidizing cherry skin and spice. Described on Inman's web site as "a unique expression of our passion for whole cluster fermentations, carbonic maceration, no new oak, wild yeast and most of all, Pinot Noir," this is a fascinating, brave wine whose rewards are substantial. Drink now - 2020.
